Overwhelming Response for One Act Festival 2010 Play Submissions
Fredericksburg, VA, October 30, 2009 - Stage Door Productions' Third Annual One Act Festival has received an overwhelming response for 2010 play submissions. To date, the One Act Festival committee has received 217 plays from 26 states, 3 provinces of Canada, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Singapore. The One Act Festival committee encouraged playwrights of all ages and areas of interest to submit their plays. Playwrights will be notified by December 1, 2009.
Last year, Stage Door Productions produced 6 plays out of 11 submissions. Several authors from New York City traveled to Fredericksburg to see their plays produced and were pleasantly surprised at the professionalism and depth of talent. They made a point of mentioning it to any member of Stage Door's house management and ushers that they met. It is apparent that the past authors have spread the word that Stage Door Productions, a community theater in the small city of Fredericksburg, Virginia, honors the playwright and the art form and presents the plays in a very positive and professional manner.
Auditions will be held in early January and the finalists will determine casting requirements which may include actors of all ages. Production crew and front of house opportunities are also available to teenagers and adults.
The Third Annual One Act Festival will be held at Germanna Community College - Fredericksburg Campus, on February 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, and 27, 2010.
A Target grant awarded to Stage Door Productions for Arts/Culture will be used specifically to fund the 2010 One Act Festival. For more information, please contact, Charlotte Fields, Festival Coordinator.
